Update: Propane Leak at Craig Aquatic Center Road and School Closure

Update: Arrowhead has worked to close the valve leaking propane and has significantly reduced the flow of propane. Work is continuing to transfer the remaining propane to an alternate tank. There is still an active propane leak.

As of August 30, 2023 at approximately 10:20am, a propane leak was identified at the Craig Aquatic Center. At this time, roads near the aquatic center are closed off and the Elementary and Middle Schools have been evacuated with guardians contacted to pick up their kids. School will be closed for the remainder of the day.

The City of Craig Fire and Police Departments are on scene managing the area while the problem is being addressed and efforts are underway to contain the propane.

Individuals living in the area are not being evacuated at this time. If you smell propane, keep electronics turned off and avoid an open flame. If there is a strong smell of propane in your home, it may be advisable to turn off heat sources and leave the area until the issue is fully contained.
