Harbormaster Building

Welcome!

The Craig Harbor department is dedicated to making your short term or long term visit to our part of Southeast Alaska, a memorable experience. Craig has many accommodations boaters will need, from a grocery store, post office, restaurants, ATM access, marine and hardware stores, as well as local shopping, all within walking distances. This small community is rich with unique history, scenic views, traditional culture, and local hospitality.

The Craig Harbor staff operates and manages multiple moving parts of the Harbor department with 4 year-round, full-time employees and 1 seasonal ice-house operator. That includes 2 harbors, 2 small floats with fish cleaning accessibility, 1 office facility with public showers and restrooms in town, 1 seasonal public restroom at the JTB Industrial Park, 2 boat launch ramps, a seaplane dock, a boat yard with a hydraulic trailer, a floating breakwater with gear storage and the old Ward Cove Cannery web loft building. In the North & South Cove, we offer some services such as water along the docks, short term parking, and oil waste disposal free of charge. There are multiple garbage canisters that are available to Moorage customers as well. The Harbor department is equipped with a sea water fire pump or response vessel for action during emergency situations.

The Harbormaster facility is located on the corner of the Craig-Klawock Highway and West Hamilton Dr. You can contact our office at 907-826-3404 during the hours of 7 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday or the Harbormaster and Assistant Harbormaster on channel 16 from 7 AM to 8 PM, 7 days a week. After regular office hours, please leave a message on the answering machine at and someone will return your call as soon as possible. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
