Administration

The City of Craig is a First Class city with a strong mayor form of government.  The Mayor is the chief administrator for the city, with authority delegated to the City Administrator. 

Brian Templin is the city administrator of Craig.  The city administrator works to implement the goals and direction set by the Craig City Council.  The position is responsible for administering and overseeing the day-to-day functions, activities, and services provided by 33 full time city employees in 15 separate departments, having a combined annual budget of approximately $5.3 million. Duties include:

  • Attending meetings and providing reports to the council on island-wide and state-wide activities effecting Craig.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual budget
  • Assist in preparation of council packet material and memorandums
  • Assist in direction to staff on ongoing capital projects
  • Act as a liaison between the public and department managers to complete requests by the residents of Craig
  • Research and reports on current or ongoing legislation that impacts the City of Craig
