BURN PIT NOTICE

We are pleased to announce that the City staff has recently completed a major cleanup of our burn pit. In order to maintain its pristine condition, we urge all community members to adhere strictly to the following guidelines:

  1. Prohibited Items: Plastics of any kind and household trash items are strictly prohibited from being disposed of in the burn pit. This includes refraining from placing even a single trash bag into the pit or igniting it.
  2. Accepted Materials: Only wood, cardboard, and paper are permitted for disposal in the Burn Pit.
  3. Mandatory Ignition: It is mandatory to ignite all burnable items prior to leaving the burn pit. Failure to comply with this regulation may result in citations being issued, as unignited items are susceptible to being blown out of the pit by the wind.
  4. Compliance: Please familiarize yourself with the large yellow/black sign prominently displayed at the pit, outlining the regulations. Failure to comply with these rules may lead to citations and fines for individuals. Persistent non-compliance may result in the permanent closure of the burn pit.
  5. Reporting Violations: If you witness someone depositing prohibited items into the pit, we encourage you to politely ask them to stop. If necessary, please report such incidents to Craig PD.

It is imperative that each member of our community plays their part in ensuring the continued operation of our burn pit. Failure to comply with the regulations listed above may result in the permanent closure of the burn pit. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to maintaining our burn pit in optimal condition.
