All Purpose Vehicle (APV) Use on Craig City Streets Starting April 1, 2022

On March 17th the Craig City Council passed ordinance 744, allowing the use of All Purpose Vehicles on city streets in Craig. All operators and passengers must comply with state regulations and with local restrictions regarding APV use on city streets. This ordinance is effective today (Friday, April 1, 2022). CRAIG CITY ORDINANCE 744

All Purpose Vehicles (APV) may be operated on City Streets starting Friday, April 1, 2022

The Craig Ordinance is a result of the State law that became effective January 1, 2022, but contains some additional requirement/restrictions.  Make sure you are aware of what you can and cannot do with APV’s inside the Craig City Limits.  View the full ordinance by clicking the link below.  Some highlights are;

  • Dirt Bikes, 3 Wheelers, and Go Carts are not allowed on any roadway
  • Operators must have a valid driver’s license
  • All APV’s must be Registered, Licensed & Insured
  • Not allowed on any school grounds, parks, playgrounds, recreation areas, or walking/hiking trails
  • Private Property is off limits, without permission from the property owner
  • Operators under 18 and ALL passengers must wear a helmet
  • Must have headlight, taillight and brake light / headlight & taillight must be illuminated when APV is operated
  • APV must have working muffler
  • Any APV that violates Craig Municipal Code or State Law will be declared a public nuisance.  All APV’s declared a public nuisance will be impounded.
  • Violations will be subject to a fine, up to $300.00 and police may impound the APV.
  • The City of Craig reserves the right to change the municipal ordinance and opt out of allowing APV use on city streets in Craig.
